The turnout for Morocco's recent elections were about 45%. This is a relatively low number compared to the expected turn out. With the Feb. manifestation one could of predicted a greater turn out than 45%. That leads me to question could have the mass media helped encourage more people to show up and vote?
Though there was a lot of campaigning on the streets and around cities there were not many TV promotions pushing people to vote. I believe if there were more educational commercials on the importance of voting especially by the youth of Morocco, it could have created a bigger voting turn out than just 45%. Although the radio did follow the campaigns and talk about the political content of the elections I feel it also failed to promote political actions on a mass media level. I think that if the media did not simply focus only on the different political parties but also on educating people about voting, the turn out could of been greater.

Hide or Post?
We all know that these days it is hard to keep anything secret or hidden on the internet. There are always ways to go around online security measures, so posting anything online may be public at one time or another. Some may say to avoid unwanted online exposure the simplest thing to do is to stay offline, which means do not post, blog or tweet about things you wish to stay private.
However in an article available on Yahoo! Business website called " Seven Step for Building Your Personal Brand Online" suggests taking control of your online image. This article is interesting because it talks about the power behind online images and give ways to strengthen this online image, which in these days is very important due to the technological world we live in. Instead of hiding from the digital world, facing it and controlling your own digital image is possible and useful for today's society.

The Freedom of Speech or Mayhem?
In this past week lower Manhattan, NY was flooded with thousands of protesters in support of the movement against Wall Street. Protesters are demanding for more separation between banks and government, an end to corporate greed and increased support towards education. With over 200 arrested and many injured, the protest did become violent and unruly in some instances. Protesters even threatened to move to subways, blocking routes for thousands of NY residents.
Though I believe in the demands of this protest, when the right to express your views begins to cause danger and hazards to citizens, is it still appropriate? Blocking major streets, subways and transportation routes can disrupt ambulance and emergency routes, isolate everyday commuters, and create chaos. Law enforcement is left with drawing the line between 'freedom of speech' and 'public safety'. Today's revolutions are meaningful, but they often come with a price of unrest and violence. Get more information of the chaotic situation that NY has just experienced at http://www.nypost.com. The title is " OWS Protesters cause mayhem across the city, 275 arrested.

Celebrities Divorce, Is Media to Blame?
Kim Kardashian a reality T.V. star has filed for divorce after only 72 days of marriage. Kim's reality show follows her in her day to day life, she has had many seasons aired over the span of a few years. She even filmed her summer wedding to athlete Kris Humphries and aired it on national T.V., and some think this constant exposure to the media may have had an impact on her short lasting summer nuptials. In a interview on an Australian morning show, Kim Kardashian did mention how the media might have contributed to the stress put on her marriage. The media has critized Kim harshly accusing her of having the wedding as a publicity stunt and questions the legitimacy of her nuptials.
Although the media may not be the sole cause of Kim Kardashians divorce, having cameras constantly around you and making your life public does have consquences. Some times for celeberties the consequences can be positive bringing, self-promotion, good press and ratings, which translates into more money. However, the negative affects of too much media exposure has been known to put strain on celebrity relationships. The media has seen the most famous public couples like Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, and even Madonna, marry, and eventually divorce. Could the media have played role?

Verizon Backs up Samung
In the battle between Apple and Samsung over patents, Verizon ( a leading phone company) has sided with Samsung. This is due to Verizon's investment in Samsung's anroid. This battle highlights the power of vertical integration and how company's who are vertically integrated like Apple and Samsung will go to great lengths to maintain their control over certain products, services, or patents. Although Verizon may not be as vertically integrated as Samsung or Apple it wants to remain in Samsung's corner as a possible horizontal integration.
